ARTIST STATEMENT

We like to believe that approachability is at the heart of everything we do; we aspire to create moments that instigate pleasure, no matter whether they are big or small.

As a husband and wife team, we have strived to live by principles inspired by our heroes Arakawa and Gins, another creative couple working in the field of architecture, art and poetry. "We Have Decided Not To Die" is our admittance of that, originally spoken by Arakawa and Gins. It is about questioning your every moment and embracing your childlike inhibitions because in doing so, you will most likely see, feel and experience these moments as you have never done before. This approach inspired the two mantras that inspire our practice: “Design as Performance" and “Purposeful Eclecticism". In our varied work, these manifest in a variety of ways but are ultimately always attempting to inspire the questioning of a moment and create a pause to acknowledge that we’re living, breathing, moving, and working in a physical world.
